Replacement of two burners in Kalimantan
Replacement of burners on two towers located in the jungle for Total NPU Indonesia. The work was carried out during a scheduled shutdown.
Project Execution
Work performed directly
on-site.
Five years later, we returned to replace two flare tips located on two towers in the jungle on the Indonesian island of Kalimantan for the company Total NPU Indonesia. The scheduled shutdown lasted seven days, of which we required five to complete the flare tip replacements. The two towers were situated approximately 500 meters apart, and we operated two separate work teams simultaneously across both locations.
Since using a crane was not feasible, we performed the replacements using an A-frame structure, designed and manufactured by the Dutch company EuroRigging B.V. All materials were loaded onto LCT (Landing Craft Tank) vessels, transported to the base of the towers, and then distributed to the required locations. The flare tips weighed 3.2 tons, and we used a 2-ton capacity winch to lift them.
Everything was completed according to plan—safely and on schedule.
