Offshore flare tip replacement

Preparation and replacement of flare tips on an offshore vessel. The procedure had to account for both the limited workspace and the movement of the vessel.

Project Execution

Work performed directly
on-site.

A highly challenging project requiring extensive preparation for the replacement of flare tips. The complexity stemmed from the fact that the flare tips were being replaced on a vessel located in the open sea. Space was limited, and the operation had to account for ocean swells, which caused the vessel to roll from side to side throughout the entire replacement and lifting process.

A specialized structure was erected on a 100-meter-high tower to facilitate the lifting of all components designated for replacement. Using steel guide cables anchored to the structure's frame, the main flare tip—weighing 3.5 tonnes—was lowered and hoisted. The project included the replacement of the main flare tip, the installation of an extension for a smaller flare tip, and the replacement of electrical...
