Comprehensive maintenance of a flare tower

Replacement of the flare tip and monoseal, welding of supports, and renewal of electrical wiring. The scope also included work on gas panels and structural painting.

Project Execution

Work performed directly
on-site.

This project involved numerous modifications, including the replacement of the flare tip and monoseal, welding supports for new electrical lines, a complete overhaul of the electrical wiring, replacement of gas control panels, painting of the risers, and much more. The preparation of materials and pre-installation work alone took 4 weeks prior to the actual execution of the project. The flare assembly was 160 m tall and composed of five riser sections; each section was 31 m long, measured 60 inches in diameter, and weighed 14 tons. The Monoseal weighed 15.5 tons, and the flare tip weighed 7 tons.

Lifting was performed using a single winch, with the cable reeved through 8 sheaves and connected to a lifting block attached to the rear of the riser section. The entire operation took 2 weeks, with work carried out in both day and night shifts. Our role was to oversee the work process and manage its organization.

We completed the project 4 days ahead of schedule. The entire project was managed by the Saudi Arabian company Expertise – www.expertindus.com
